About Bellafill

Bellafill is a dermal filler composed of polymethyl methacrylate microspheres suspended in a smooth gel. It is unique among dermal fillers because it provides immediate volume and also encourages the body to produce collagen gradually, offering long-lasting results—often up to five years. (2) Bellafill is effective at replacing lost mass and correcting sunken features, as well as reducing wrinkles and helping patients achieve a youthful appearance. Nasolabial folds and moderate to severe acne scars on the cheek respond well to this injectable. (2)

This dermal filler was first approved by the FDA in 2006 and has since been successfully used as an acne scar treatment as well as for wrinkle reduction. Unlike traditional fillers that need frequent re-application, Bellafill’s collagen-stimulating properties make it a favored choice among patients seeking long-lasting aesthetic enhancement.

Bellafill can provide natural-looking outcomes without the need for surgery. Individuals who want to smooth out smile lines, enhance cheek volume, or improve the appearance of acne scars often find Bellafill to be a beneficial option. The treatment is quick and does not require downtime, leading to very high patient satisfaction rates. (2)

Preparation

After discussing your goals and scheduling your injection session, you will receive preparatory information. As Bellafill is a non-surgical injection, preparation requirements are not extensive, but there are still some important considerations to abide by. Patients may be asked to adjust their medication use, especially if they regularly take blood thinners. This also includes aspirin, ibuprofen, alcohol, and various supplements. Nicotine use should also be ceased. On the day of their injection, patients should arrive at our office without makeup and with clean skin. If you have any questions about preparation requirements, please feel free to contact our office.

Procedure

Bellafill Alexus Medspa. Led by Dr. John Alexander II

Bellafill is injected in a quick, simple session that usually takes only 15-30 minutes. When you arrive at your injection appointment, a member of the Alexus Medspa team will review your injection goals. Once reviewed, we will cleanse your face. The Bellafill injections are well-tolerated, but we can administer a topical anesthetic if you wish. Your injection specialist carefully injects Bellafill into predetermined areas under the skin in precise amounts. The number of injections varies depending on the areas treated. Some dermal fillers tend to form lumps beneath the skin after being injected. If this happens, your injector will gently massage your targeted areas to ensure an even distribution.

How Does Bellafill Work?

Bellafill is a dermal filler that is composed of polymethyl methacrylate microspheres suspended in a collagen gel. (3) When injected beneath the skin, this mixture will refill lost volume, which then reduces the presence of wrinkles and raises sunken features. As this influx of collagen is introduced, your body is prompted to increase its own collagen production. (3) Collagen is one of the body’s main structural proteins and is responsible for skin elasticity, hydration, and strength. As your collagen increases, you see long-lasting results as your skin repairs and rebuilds itself.

Recovery

Recovery time following a Bellafill injection is minimal. Patients can return to normal activities immediately. Some minor side effects like swelling, redness at the injection site, soreness, and mild bruising may occur. These effects are generally temporary and resolve on their own within a few days. Patients should also avoid touching their faces as much as possible. Follow-up appointments at Alexus Medspa will allow our team to monitor your recovery progress.

Results

The results from Bellafill are visible right after the procedure and will continue to improve as the body produces more collagen over time. Patients can enjoy a refreshed, youthful look for several years. Because Bellafill will last so long, patients do not need to regularly receive touch-up injections. However, these are available to those who request them. Results may last up to 5 years or longer.

Corresponding Procedures

Alexus Medspa offers many different dermal fillers and wrinkle relaxers besides Bellafill, and many patients will choose to receive a few different ones to maximize their rejuvenation results. We offer Daxxify for wrinkle relaxation, which targets wrinkle-causing muscles and keeps them in a relaxed state. Botox also achieves results in this manner. Some of our popular dermal fillers include Restylane, Juvederm, Sculptra, and Radiesse, all of which help to increase hydration and boost collagen production in the skin. Combining dermal fillers and other injectables is an effective way to enhance your appearance. Discuss your various options with one of our injection specialists during your consultation.

Cost of Bellafill in San Diego
