Daxxify

Daxxify is a cosmetic injectable that reduces the appearance of wrinkles. Much like other neuromodulators, like Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, this injectable targets hyperfunctional muscles and relaxes them. How Does Daxxify Work?

Like Botox, Daxxify is a cosmetic injectable that uses botulinum toxin (BoNT-A) to target the underlying cause of dynamic wrinkles by targeting the muscle instead of treating the surface of the skin. Daxxify works to reduce wrinkles and fine lines from the inside out.

How Does BoNT-A Smooth Wrinkles?

The brain releases a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine to contract muscles. With contraction, the skin above the muscle contracts as well, leading to wrinkles and fine lines where we move our faces the most. This is commonly apparent in between the eyebrows, “crow’s feet” next to the eyes, and horizontally along the forehead when we form expressions.

BoNT-A inhibits the release of acetylcholine from the brain, which affects muscle contraction, causing the muscle to relax, and smoothing wrinkles in the treatment area. BoNT-A contains a light chain and a heavy chain, and each has a particular job in relaxing the targeted muscles. These chains work together to find and stop the release of acetylcholine. If a patient has frown lines, lines around the eyes, or forehead creases, Daxxify can target each of these muscle groups to effectively reduce wrinkles. (2)

Personal Consultation

For your Daxxify consultation, one of our knowledgeable providers will meet with you to discuss your concerns. They will inquire about your medical history and whether or not you have ever received neuromodulators before. Next, they will examine your face to assess where to place the Daxxify injections. Your provider will explain the procedure process thoroughly and answer any questions you may have to prepare you. They will create a treatment plan that works best for you. Depending on your circumstances, they may perform the injections directly after your private consultation. If not, a member of our staff will schedule your treatment for a future date.

Preparation

To ensure optimal outcomes for your Daxxify treatment, it is important to follow the preoperative instructions provided by our team. Please refrain from smoking tobacco and nicotine products and do not consume alcohol. Avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen, or other anti-inflammatory medications that thin your blood. For the same reason, please steer clear of certain herbal supplements like vitamin E and ginger. We encourage you to wear loose-fitting clothes to remain comfortable during your appointment. It is also helpful to arrive with no makeup or other cosmetics on your face.

Daxxify Treatment Plan

The Daxxify procedure begins with a thorough cleansing of the treatment area. If requested, they may apply a small amount of topical anesthetic to numb the area before starting the procedure. Next, they carefully place each injection in the treatment area. They may ask you to smile or frown to target specific muscles and reduce wrinkles, focusing on your areas of concern. After your last injection, they may give you an ice pack to alleviate any immediate discomfort. Your provider may perform this procedure right after your consultation as it typically takes 10 to 20 minutes to complete.

Long-Lasting Results

There is no downtime associated with Daxxify injections. You may experience irritation in and around the treatment area, but this quickly subsides in a day or two. Try not to touch or massage the targeted areas for the first 3 to 7 days to avoid migration to an unintended muscle. Though most Daxxify patients go back to their daily activities quickly, please refrain from bending over and lying down for 4-6 hours. Avoid exposing the skin to UV rays by wearing sunscreen while outside.

You should expect to notice a reduction in your wrinkles and lines 2 or 4 days after your treatment. These results get more noticeable with time and can last up to 6 months without needing a touch-up. You may return to Alexus Med Spa to improve or maintain your Daxxify results. This typically means 2 visits a year to continue looking your best.

Botox uses the same mechanics as Daxxify to temporarily relax muscles and reduce wrinkles. Does Daxxify provide natural results?

Daxxify often spreads very easily and covers a large surface area, making it particularly good at treating forehead wrinkles. This also helps patients achieve a natural-looking and softer result.

Will others be able to tell that I have received this treatment?
