Candidates

Ideal candidates for laser hair removal are individuals with dark, coarse hair on areas such as the legs, underarms, bikini area, back, chest, and face. The treatment is not as effective on blonde, gray, or red hair as it does not contain enough melanin to absorb the laser’s energy.

You should not get laser hair removal if:

Preparation

  • Avoid sun exposure or tanning beds for at least 4-6 weeks before your treatment.
  • Shave the area to be treated one day prior to your session.
  • Do not wax or pluck hairs in the treatment area for six weeks leading up to the procedure.
  • Avoid using any topical creams, lotions, or deodorants on the area being treated on the day of your appointment.
  • If you have a history of herpes outbreaks in the area being treated, please let us know so that we can prescribe medication to prevent an outbreak.
  • It is important to stay hydrated before and after your treatment.

Procedure

During the procedure, a concentrated beam of light is targeted at the hair follicles, which damages them and inhibits future hair growth.
