MicroPeel in San Diego, CA

A MicroPeel is a gentle skin rejuvenation treatment that exfoliates the skin and addresses signs of aging. The treatment can address fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, scars, and sun damage, resulting in clearer skin and a more even skin tone. It can also refresh your appearance by removing impurities from the skin.

At Alexus Medspa, we specialize in numerous skin rejuvenation treatments that raise your skin’s collagen levels for a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance.

Although changes to your skin from aging are natural, you do not have to live with them. We customize each treatment based on your skin type and unique aesthetic goals for beautiful, natural-looking results.

About MicroPeels

As you age, the collagen and elastin–proteins in your skin that help it maintain its structure and elasticity–decline, leading to fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots that affect your appearance. With a MicroPeel, we can raise the collagen in your skin to diminish signs of aging for a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance. In 2023, specialists performed more than 3.5 million skin resurfacing treatments to help patients improve the appearance of their skin, (1) showcasing the ongoing popularity of the treatment.

MicroPeel with Microdermabrasion

Many patients combine a MicroPeel with microdermabrasion, a treatment that exfoliates the skin with tiny, pressurized crystals to remove dead skin cells and debris from the upper layer of the skin. It can also stimulate collagen production for a clearer, smoother appearance.

MicroPeel vs. Deep Chemical Peels

A MicroPeel is a superficial peel, meaning it is a light treatment that addresses concerns on the outermost layers of the skin. At Alexus Medspa, we offer several types of peels to address skin aging and damage:

  • Superficial peels are ideal for addressing dryness, sun damage, and mild signs of aging. We can administer them in a series to gently exfoliate the skin.
  • Medium peels are slightly stronger and penetrate the skin at a deeper level to address scars, fine lines, and pigmentation.
  • Deep peels are ideal for patients who need to address significant sun damage and/or signs of skin aging. Deep peels require a longer recovery time, but they are known for significantly improving the skin. In a recent study, patients who received deep phenol peels noticed a 51% improvement in acne scarring. (2)

During your consultation, we will examine your skin to determine the most effective treatment plan for your needs. Contact our San Diego office online or call (888) 463-9532 to learn more about how our innovative treatments can refresh your skin!

Candidates & Consultation

Suitable candidates for a MicroPeel are those who would like to address dull skin, signs of aging, or pigmentation issues. The treatment can also diminish acne scars and improve your skin tone and texture for a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance.

During your consultation, we will perform a physical examination of your skin to determine the most effective treatment plan for your aesthetic goals. We will ask about your medical history, lifestyle, medications, and current skincare routines to help you renew your skin based on your Fitzpatrick skin type for optimal results. (3) If you have additional aesthetic goals, we can also recommend other treatments to help you address them. Many patients combine skin rejuvenation treatments with fillers, Botox®, microneedling, laser hair removal, and more!

How to Prepare

To prepare for any chemical peel, you should stop using retinoids approximately one week before your treatment. You should also avoid tanning beds and excessive sun exposure that could irritate and/or damage your skin. You should stay hydrated, and on the day of your treatment, you should arrive with clean skin without makeup or skincare products. In addition to these recommendations, we may also provide more specific instructions to help you prepare for your treatment.

Treatment Process

To begin your treatment, we will cleanse your skin and apply the peel in an even layer across your skin. The length of your treatment will depend on the condition of your skin. After your treatment, you can return to your normal activities immediately.

If you receive microdermabrasion as part of your treatment plan, we will apply tiny, pressurized crystals to the skin with a handheld wand before applying the peel to your skin. The wand also provides gentle suction to remove dead skin cells.

After Your Treatment

After your treatment, you will need to take good care of your skin and avoid excessive sun exposure that could damage it. You should wear sunscreen consistently and refrain from harsh chemical peels and abrasive scrubs temporarily. You should avoid picking at your skin if you experience flaking. We can provide specific instructions about how to care for your skin for optimal results. We can also schedule a follow-up appointment to monitor your progress.

Results

After a MicroPeel, you can enjoy refreshed skin with fewer fine lines and wrinkles. If you take good care of your skin, you can enjoy lasting results.
